Housing Starts & Building Permits Dip in April

The U.S. government is reporting that privately‐owned housing starts in April were at a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 1,724,000, which is 0.2% lower than March’s revised number and 14.6% higher than one year ago. April’s rate for units in buildings with five units or more was 612k. Privately‐owned housing units authorized by building permits in April were at a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 1,819,000, which is 3.2% lower than March’s revised number.
