Housing Starts Highest in 15 years

The U.S. government is reporting that privately‐owned housing starts in March were at a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 1,739,000, which is 19.4% higher than February’s revised number. March’s rate for units in buildings with five units or more was 477k. Privately‐owned housing units authorized by building permits in march were at a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 1,766,000, which was 2.7% higher than February’s revised number.
