Housing Starts Up 11.8% in November

The U.S. government is reporting that privately‐owned housing starts in November were at a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 1,679,000, which is 11.8% higher than October’s revised number and 8.3% higher than one year ago. November’s rate for units in buildings with five units or more was 491k. Privately‐owned housing units authorized by building permits in November were at a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 1,712,000, which is 3.6% higher than October’s revised number.
